May 27th, 2010

Sponsor a prayer to benefit a cause close to your heart, or a larger wish for the peace and balance of the whole world.

On the morning of May 27th, 2010 members of our community will begin walking clockwise around (circumambulating) the Odiyan Stupa with your requests in hand, praying for positive fulfillment of your wishes. The walk will continue until all of the offerings are completed. Horns and conch shells will call attention to our actions, and the day will be punctuated by the ringing of the Odiyan Stupa bell.

February 14th, 2010

This year, February 14th was coincidentally Valentine’s Day and Losar, the Tibetan New Year. 2010 is the year of the “Iron” Tiger, known to be generous to the poor, protective of the underdog, brave, ferocious and intelligent.

In celebration of Losar, resident practitioners of the Odiyan Community took part in a prayer walk, circumambulating around the sacred grounds of the Enlightenment Stupa. In honor of our gracious donors, these practitioners hand carried your prayers as they circumambulated, offering Losar blessings to you and your loved ones. These prayers were joined by thousands of heartfelt prayers worldwide.

December 2nd, 2009

On November 4, 2009 our dear Dharma sister, Sandra Olney, passed away peacefully at Padma Ling in Berkeley of lung cancer. Our community sponsored prayers at Odiyan and at the holy places of the Buddha, both during Sandy’s illness and after her death. A short prayer service was also held at the Nyingma Institute in appreciation of Sandy on the date of the full moon in December (December 2).

June 7th, 2009

We would like to thank our friends who requested prayers on Buddha's Enlightenment Day, June 7th, 2009. We were honored to pray for over 600 individuals, economic health, honey bee populations and world peace. It was deeply humbling to carry such personal petitions for your loved ones in our hands. We look forward to next year when Buddha's Enlightenment Day will be May 27th, 2010.
